The Shepherd Family—from Henry, Tennessee—performs and leads worship across the southeast! Featured regularly on Tennessee Public Television’s Gospel Music Showcase, the family has emerged with a reputation for skillful instrumental arrangements and rich vocal harmonies across a vast array of musical styles—including bluegrass, folk, classical, traditional, contemporary Christian and more!
The four siblings are scholarship students in the pre-college program at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. 17-year-old Jordan (mandolin, viola, guitar, and vocals) serves as Worship Leader at New Harmony Baptist Church in Paris, TN, and is the principal violist for Vanderbilt’s Curb Youth Symphony. 14-year-old Iris is equally adept at classical violin and fiddle. Winner of the Samuel Fordis Young Artist Concerto Competition, she debuted as a soloist with the Georgia Philharmonic in February of 2018, and she was a featured soloist with the Fairbanks (Alaska) Symphony Orchestra the summer of 2018 and 2019. Most recently, she won the Curb Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, Tennessee ASTA’s Concerto Competition, as well as the MTNA state and southern division strings category. She is also the winner of the James G. “Bobo” Driver National Championship fiddle contest for Country Music Beginners. Younger brother, Gideon (age 12), plays cello and banjo and won the National Championship for Country Music Beginners in banjo in July of 2019. Jordan and Iris made their Grand Ole Opry stage debuts during the summer of 2016, performing featured solos as part of the Fine Arts Summer Academy. The family is rounded out with 9-year-old Grace (violin and vocals), who was adopted from China in 2014.
Traci, a homeschool mom and wedding photographer, sings with the family. Scott (Worship and Music Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board) arranges the family’s music, sings, and plays piano and guitar.
Join us this Sunday for worship!
